Actress Salma Hayek, who is a board member of the Kering Foundation, helped to raise over $3 million dollars to help end violence against women and children.
Salma’s husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, is the CEO of Kering, although The Kering Foundation is comprised of thirteen different directors to manage both the business and nonprofit affairs of the organization.
Salma Hayek Raises MILLIONS To Help End Violence Against Women and Children
On Sunday afternoon, the “House of Gucci” actress shared a video that featured some clips from the second annual Charity For Dinner held earlier this month. “We still have a lot, a lot, of fighting to do,” Salma says in one of the clips. “But that at the same time, you don’t feel alone during the fight and you feel the energy and the togetherness, which is one of the themes of tonight. So it’s a very special night.”
The video also includes short statements from François-Henri Pinault, 61, actress and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey, Nobel Laureate and girls’ education activist, Malala Yousafzai, director and actress Olivia Wilde, and host and producer Lisa Ling.
In the caption of this Instagram post, Salma wrote, “Last week The Kering Foundation celebrated 15 years with its second annual Caring for Women dinner in efforts to combat violence against women and children.”
“In addition to the annual commitments of the Kering Foundation, we raised over $3 million to benefit: the Malala Fund, National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), and New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault,” she continued. “Let’s be the scissors that cut the cycle of violence against women and reshape the world.”
Fans were quick to praise the actress for her work. “All the work done is so important and appreciated and absolutely beautiful. We (the women) feel supported so much more since we’ve seen through all the work done by them,” one fan commented. “Thank you for your consistency and endless fight through this foundation. Keep fighting and inspiring people,” another follower shared.
